A BIT OF BACKGROUND
I started my musical career around 1993, and in 2000 formed the all-girl duo MELK. After performing at various venues countrywide for years I was selected as a contestant on M-Net’s Big Brother II in 2002. During that year MELK won the SABC 2 Geraas competition as best newcomers with their song “Kerrewen Country”, touring extensively and eventually splitting up when both members embarked on careers in the film industry. I formed various groups hereafter, performing at venues and theatres throughout the country.
After a 6 month stint at Trader Horns, Sun City (1997) I moved to Cape Town where I worked on the KykNet series Vallei van Sluiers as well as several films : Man Soos My Pa & Strikdas. I also started Girls of Rock, the Tribute – paying homage to the women of 70’s/80’s rock including Bonnie Tyler, Stevie Nicks, Joan Jett, Heart, Blondie, Cher, Janis Joplin, Juice Newton, Suzi Quatro and local band Clout. I continue to perform, solo and with fellow musicians, and live in the Lowveld with my son.
